Marco Alber

Proprietor, Gallery Alber, Cologne

Marco Alber has been running GALERIE ALBER together with his wife Denisa Alber in downtown Cologne since 2018. The gallery shows a stringent contemporary program with a focus on abstract painting, sculpture and interdisciplinary extensions of these classic genres. Even before the current gallery, he was involved in Galerie K and various exhibition projects and has been volunteering for Freunde des Wallraf-Richartz-Museums und des Museums Ludwig e.V. since 2013. Simone Klein

Photography specialist and consultant based in Paris and Cologne

Brings a 20 years experience in the auction and gallery business with profound knowledge in European 19th century, classical 20th century and contemporary photography and an excellent international network. Educated in France and Germany with master degrees in Art History and History of Photography at the Sorbonne and the University of Bonn, Simone Klein has consecutively worked for Rudolf Kicken Gallery, Lempertz Auctioneers, Sotheby’s London and Paris (as Head of the European Photography Department for almost 10 years), and at Magnum Photos in Paris as Global Sales Director. Anja Knoess

Proprietor, Gallery Anja Knoess, Cologne

After an apprenticeship as a furniture restorer for Biedermeier and Baroque furniture Anja Knoess studied art history at the University of Cologne, graduating with an M.A. Since 1996 stationed in various positions for art dealing and gallery work, and amongst others as a volunteer for Sotheby’s in Cologne and London. 2015 the founding of Gallery ANJA KNOESS. Subsequently member of the advisory council at the Art Karlsruhe in the department for contemporary art. As a member, Anja Knoess is committed to both the ZONTA Club Cologne and the 2-year-old ZONTA Cologne Art Award to promote women in the art world.
Prof. Mischa Kuball

Concept artist and professor for public art at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne

Mischa Kuball has been a professor at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne since 2007, associate professor for media art at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG), and starting 2015 a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts in Düsseldorf. In January 2016 he was granted the German “Lichtkunstpreis” (engl.: Light Art Award). Since 1977, Mischa Kuball has been working as a conceptual artist in public and institutional sectors. Through the medium of light — particularly in art installations and photography — Kuball examines architectural space and it’s subsequent social and political discourse. He reflects on the various facets, from cultural social structures to architectural encroachments, which underlines the characteristics of landmarks and the context of architectural history or redefines it.
Thomas Seelig

Head of the collection for photography at the Museum Folkwang in Essen

Since 2018 Thomas Seelig has been head of the collection for photography at the Museum Folkwang in Essen and curator for exhibitions including those for Marge Monko, Aenne Biermann, Timm Rautert and Tobias Zielony. He studied visual communications and photography at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, followed by a study program as a curator at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. He worked as a curator for collections at the Museum for Photography in Winterthur between 2003 and 2018 and as managing director from 2013-17. He also took part in the development of SITUATIONS, an experimental exhibition format for the museum. Exhibitions include among others “Im Rausch der Dinge” (2004), “Forschen und Erfinden” (2007) and “The Hobbyist” (2017). Copyright/Photo: Anne Morgenstern
Dr. Miriam Szwast

Curator for the photography collection at the Museum Ludwig, Cologne

After attending school in Saarbrücken and Frankfurt am Main with a focus in art history, as well as French and American culture studies. Promotion to history in photography at the the University Hamburg. Research volunteer at the Staatlichen Museen Berlin, and curator for photography in Cologne since 2013. Most recent exhibition release: Fiona Tan. GAAF (2019), Lucia Moholy. Fotogeschichte schreiben (2019) (engl.: “Writing visual stories”), Sisi privat. Die Fotoalben der Kaiserin (2020) (engl.: Fotoalbums of the queen). In Addition, responsible for climate protection and sustainability at the Ludwig Museum.
