Viktoria Mashchenko
Home

Viktoria Mashchenko’s graphic work shows a boy standing in front of his house in Luhansk, which has been destroyed by Russian bombardment. A deep all-encompassing blackness in the image darkens the space and levels all the intermediate tones. It puts a veil of incomprehension over every aspect of the work. Even the snow seems like a grey frayed funeral pile. How is a child supposed to comprehend such a senseless act? The blue of his cap is the last bridge into the world of his past, which will remain darkly coloured in the future.
