With the backdrop of Ukrainian history and Ukrainian identity, Andrii Bludov’s project “Voices” deals specifically with the genre of family history. Photos from family archives serve as his source and inspiration. He ascribes special significance to these photographs and the form of this family archive by elevating them to a pictorial and artistic object. His transfer of these photos onto canvas using screen printing techniques and the subsequent processing transforms the historical photo into an oversized document of intensive retrospection, which in the shimmer of the new colourings, refers to our own significance and responsibility towards those who will look back on us in the future.
