Nadine Aber
Camouflage

Nadine Aber’s photograph of a market stall in Kabul is a comparison, questioning, and transformation of her Western-influenced image of Afghanistan. Born in Germany with Afghan family roots, she embarks on a journey to Afghanistan in 2019 to compare the media fragments that make up her image of this country with reality. What impact will the “here and now” have in Afghanistan? Does it overwrite or complement? Does it reconcile, defy, or confuse? Aber’s image is a document of this confrontation.
